There are so many different types of toothbrushes to choose from on the market today. And with the advancements in electric toothbrushes, there are even more chooses. But deciding to use a manual or an electric toothbrush can be a little confusing. Does the higher price of the electric brush mean they work better? There are many different aspects to look at when picking between the two.
Today there are many trials being done that are looking into the comparisons between manual and electric toothbrushes. A review of some of these studies shows that in most cases manual toothbrushes work just as well as the electric ones. Both brushes protect against inflamed gums relatively equally.
The study did show that the one type of electric toothbrush that was more effective than the traditional toothbrush were the one with a rotating-oscillating brush head. These brushes have a circular head that moves a quarter of a turn in one direction and then back a quarter of a turn.
The review shows that most people might be wasting their money on electric toothbrushes, thinking they are better than the cheaper manual brushes. There is a range of different electric toothbrushes on the market and the sales of them have been on the rise. Some have bristles with ultrasound and others have a head that either moves side to side or round and round. If one really wants to use an electric brush, then the best one for they is one with a rotating-oscillating head.
If you have an electric toothbrush without a rotating-oscillating head, there is no need to worry. Your teeth will still get clean, just not as clean as possible. For most people, choosing a toothbrush is about personal preference. People tend to take affordability, availability and professional recommendation into account when purchasing their toothbrush. It is important for consumers to know how well their toothbrush will work to clean their teeth before making a purchase.
The best toothbrush that you can buy is the one that you will actually use. Choose one that you will use every day to help keep your teeth as clean as possible.
